Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to consider participating in the following session for the
2012 annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. We are broadly
interested in abstracts addressing the biogeochemistry of urban ecosystems
across terrestrial and aquatic environments.

Urban Biogeochemical Cycles B068
Half of the world's population lives in urban settlements, and managing
urban biogeochemical cycles will become more critical with future
development. Urban ecosystems are usually hot spots for thermal, sediment,
carbon, nutrient and other pollutions. There are many questions regarding
transport and transformation of hydrologic, geochemical, and biogeochemical
fluxes in urban ecosystems. An improved understanding is needed for managing
variability in these fluxes in response to human disturbances and/or
watershed scale restoration efforts. We solicit contributions that consider
the sources, fluxes, and flowpaths of water, energy, and elements across
urban ecosystems, and potential interactions with global climate change and
watershed and landscape management.

Kind Regards,

Sujay Kaushal and Shuiwang Duan
