Well, it's been a long story since then. An interesting recipient,
   http://elephantresearch.net/
<http://elephantresearch.net/fieldnotes> in the Uda Walawe National
Park in Sri Lanka, was identified, and discussion ensued about how
to get the approximately 400 kilograms of journals across the ocean.
We eventually decided on ocean transport, and funding was solicited
through this news-list and by other means.

   A non-profit organization, http://www.ideawild.org, offered their
assistance in receiving and distributing funds. Last spring, after
nearly enough money was donated to cover the cost of ocean transport
and, _so we thought_, port and customs clearance in Colombo, the
   shipment was made.

The journals are in Sri Lanka now, and in fact, in possession of the
recipient, but on the one hand, Idea Wild has paid $129 more than
they received as donations, and on the other hand, the shipping
agent in Colombo has discovered an unpaid bill called a "liner fee",
which apparently relates to physically getting a crate off of a ship
(I thought crates were in shipping containers today) of Sri Lankan
Rupees Rs. 9,783.46 ($US 74.53), and on still another hand, if Idea
Wild were to wire the unpaid money to the Sri Lankan shipping agent,
the bank would charge $40 for that service!

The net result is that a very small non-profit, Idea Wild, is
already short $129, it would be even further "below water" if it
paid the outstanding bill, and the recipient is fearful of having
   the journals re-possessed.

Thus Idea Wild, and Dr. de Silva, and her associate in Colombo
(where the journals now reside), and I, would be very grateful for
any contributions to Idea Wild. They should be directed to:
