Dear ecologgers,
(If you don't want to read any further, just go here: http://ecologyunconference.wikispaces.com/) A number of people mentioned during ESA 2012 in Portland that some of their favorite moments at the meeting were discussions with other ecologists, either in the hall ways, after talks, or during workshops. Enter the unconference. The idea of an unconference is to have a community organized meetup in which interactions among people are emphasized over the traditional lecture and poster format. For example, many sessions may just be organized a single idea, and people attending have a discussion around the topic. The format can be decided by the community. If you want to learn more or contribute ideas for the unconference we have put up a wiki in which anyone can login and add ideas on topics to cover: http://ecologyunconference.wikispaces.com/ The length and format of the unconference is up to us. If you are curious about similar unconference events, see the ScienceOnline2012 site: http://scienceonline2012.com/ Please visit the wiki and add your ideas/comments/etc. before November 10, 2012 to leave enough time for us to propose sessions at ESA workshops if we decide to go that route. Cheers, Scott Chamberlain (@recology_) and Sandra Chung (@sandramchung) twitter/app.net hashtag: #esaun13
