Dear all,

My name is Rebecca Reurslag and I am a second year master student in Ecology at
the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). I am looking for an internship for six
months (of which 4 months abroad) in 2013. I have worked on marine animals and
soil invertebrates, therefore I would like to work with larger animal species
with regard to conservation/biodiversity (habitat, diet, home range etc.).

During my study I have done two internships. I have done my bachelor internship
at IMARES in Ijmuiden, the Netherlands. It is a research institute that is part
of the Universiteit Wageningen and is specialized in strategic and applied
marine ecological research. I worked on the effect of the implementation of a
nature conservation area in the north sea. Focusing on the effects of bottom
trawling inside and outside the area on benthic species like crabs and
starfish. Although I learned a lot from this internship I did miss working in
the field, for I only did data analysis in R. My master internship was at the
Animal Ecology Department at the VU. I worked on the effect of climate change
on a forest soil food web compared to another habitat (with a different
temperature regime) and to other studies which were focused on single species.
For this internship I have done three days of fieldwork, but still it wasn’t
enough. So, both internships were related to anthropogenic impacts on nature. I
would like to take this to the next level by doing my internship abroad (in a
completely different environment), on vertebrates and do a lot of fieldwork.
Another reason for me to go abroad is to meet many new people.

Please contact me for my CV. Thank you in advance.

Rebecca Reurslag
