I think you're reading too much into this and missing the bigger picture. I can
understand your concern for not pitching a product on Ecolog, but that was not
the intent. I think the idea is to raise questions on how we expect to sustain
our need for energy now and into the future.
Maybe if you watched the film, you might get your questions answered. If not
answered, at least you might have some new insight beyond just catchy phrases
about sliced bread, the Titanic, hot air of leverage and references to a money
trail.

Ecolog:

This is an ad. I feel mislead. The film this pitches for may be the greatest
idea since sliced bread, but all it was was a pitch for a film, and said zero
of substance (except the remark by an unidentified man who said "We use SO much
energy").
So what else is new? The production values were very high, which leads me to
believe it was well-financed. Follow the money.

The German product (even more overproduced) drove me nuts with it's canned,
irritating "drum" beat, but I watched it up to the point where they implied
that corn ethanol was one of the viable solutions, and the old "carbon"
neutral pitch about biomass also turned me off.

Frankly, I don't care if somebody pitches a product on Ecolog, but if they're
going to do it, they should have something of substance to say that's new. Why
not reveal who's behind this?

Why are net energy calucluations never mentioned in these pitches? It's like
the old saw about shifting the deck chairs while the Titanic goes down and
"there's no free lunch."

And why are effects on ecosystems never mentioned. E.g., what must be
sacrificed for corn, sugar cane, switchgrass ad nauseam?

I felt suckered. I hear that Giant Sucking Sound, and I smell the hot air of
leverage. Follow the money.

Interesting. Here is another one with a little bit different take. Maybe
some of you have seen it?
