Assistant Professor - Sustainable Design, Planning & Policy in the Coastal Environment University of Rhode Island, College of the Environment and Life Sciences
This is a tenure-track, academic-year position with an anticipated start date of September 2013. The successful applicant is expected to develop and maintain an externally-funded, active research program; to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her specialization; to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research; and to carry out service in the Department, College, University, and community. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ph.D. in landscape architecture, environmental planning, urban design, geography, environmental policy, or closely-related field from an accredited college or university at time of appointment; 2. Demonstrated experience in conducting research on policy, planning, and/or design projects in coastal systems; 3. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach sustainable design, green infrastructure, planning, or policy in a coastal environment; 4. Demonstrated proficiency in CAD and/or GIS, and a familiarity with technologies associated with design and graphic communication; 5. Evidence of previous interdisciplinary collaboration and research; 6. Demonstrated excellence in writing and oral communication skills.
