Due to typical staffing upheavals at our institution, I am preparing for the likelihood that I will be suddenly reassigned to teach Ornithology (300-level) and Population Biology (400-level) in January, for which we currently have no instructors. If this happens, I will need to designate textbooks. Since I won't have time to leisurely send off for samples, can the assembled masses give me some opinions or recommendations? Allegedly the requests are already due, so I may need to decide something sight unseen or base it on friendly opinions.
