Texas Sea Grant at Texas A&M University: Research Coordinator

 

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: Reviews and maintains requests for grants, fellowships
and scholarships and follow up on requests for information about Texas Sea
Grant funding opportunities, and provides guidance regarding proposal
submission. Creates reports analyzing and describing grant, fellowship and
scholarship performance, project impacts and outcomes consistent with
National Sea Grant annual review, annual program summary reports, and the
program performance review process (once every four years). Creates and
maintains a database to track students during and after fellowship and
scholarship completion. 

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT AND REVIEW: Works with potential investigators and
students to facilitate their understanding of the grant, fellowship and
scholarship application requirements, and develop competitive grant
proposals and fellowship and scholarship applications. Coordinates proposal
review by soliciting qualified reviewers, managing review process,
communicating results to investigators and students. Submits sponsored
proposals from Texas Sea Grant to external sponsors using Grants.gov and
other electronic proposal submission systems. 

PROGRAM LEADERSHIP: Participates in strategic planning and evaluation of
program goals and objectives as set forth in the strategic plan. Develops
knowledge about and remains current with the Texas Sea Grant's focus areas
as well as coastal community issues. Attends and participates in staff
meetings, Advisory Committee meetings, activities and training that foster
professional growth and an increased awareness of Texas Sea Grant focus
areas. May require operation of University vehicles. Represents Texas Sea
Grant to current and potential grant, scholarship and fellowship recipients
at meetings and events. 

COMMUNICATIONS: Coordinates dissemination of requests for proposal
information from Texas Sea Grant, the National Sea Grant Office, the Gulf
state Sea Grant Programs Regional funding opportunities and partner
organizations to investigators and students using listserv, website and
other communication tools. Provides information on grants, fellowships and
scholarships for the purpose of media and public relations. Assists Texas
Sea Grant Communications Team with content development and editing for
magazine, print publications, web materials, press releases and social
media. Works with grant, fellowship and scholarship recipients to generate
recognition for Texas Sea Grant support and ensure alignment with Texas Sea
Grant branding and identity standards. Performs other duties as assigned.   

 

Master's degree in research-related field. Five years' experience in one or
more of the following program areas required: research methods, grant
proposal development, research administration, program evaluation. Valid
Texas driver's license (TDL). Must be able to obtain State of Texas class
"C" vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment. Failure to
obtain a valid TDL may result in termination. Excellent communication skills
(written, verbal and presentation). Excellent analytical skills and ability
to synthesize large amounts of information. Excellent organizational skills
and ability to multi-task and prioritize. Proficient computer skills
including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and ability to learn
eSeaGrant proposal and reporting database, use of Internet. Some travel
(daily and overnight) will be necessary. Ability to multi-task and work
cooperatively with others.  Doctoral degree in research-related field
preferred
