Colleagues,In my gen ed class, we are about to go over climate change and
energy sustainability.
Does anyone know of a website that uses a simplified climate change model? For
example, students could type in some level of change (e.g. a volcano erupts, a
new tropical dam built, and increase in automobiles in the USA, etc.) and then
see the predicted changes over time? Or, in contrast, the change is a
decrease- decrease in auto use, reduction in coal pollution, etc., and we see a
stabilization (or dare we hope for a reduction)? This would be an amazing
teaching tool if I could find it somewhere….
I already use the stabilization wedges paper/website and the sustainable path
to energy paper (Jacobson & Delucchi 2009).
Thank you,Shelly
P.S. We will also be doing some of the correlation v. causation info so many
of you graciously commented on. We have another college-wide discussion coming
up about it; I’ll give a summary at that point. Thanks!
