The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of
Washington has a short contract opening (full-time for 4+ months) for a
research assistant. The position can be held at U.W. (Seattle), U.B.C.
(Vancouver), or possibly elsewhere.
Work will involve gathering data describing fishery management systems
in Eastern Canada and Europe. Data will be gathered from published
reports, government or scientific databases, and mainly by conducting
interviews by phone and email with regional experts. Involvement in data
analysis and manuscript preparation is a possibility.
General knowledge in the field of fisheries science, management, and
socio-economics is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is
required. Some familiarity with fisheries and fleets in Eastern Canada
or Europe is preferred but not required.
Start date is as soon as possible. Pay is $2,500/month. For further
