Graduate Research Assistantships in Environmental Science & Policy

The Center for the Environment (CFE) at Plymouth state University,
Plymouth, NH (http://www.plymouth.edu/cfe/)is inviting applications for
its MS program in Environmental Science and Policy. CFE addresses the
science, policies, culture, and economics of the natural environment in
northern New England through research, education and collaboration. We
engage on- and off-campus partners to define, acquire, and provide science-
based knowledge to make informed decisions.

Students will have opportunities to collaborate with interdisciplinary
teams of faculty, students, and scientists from other academic,
governmental, and non-governmental organizations such as the Hubbard Brook
Experimental Forest, White Mountains National Forest, and NH Department of
Environmental Services. Individuals from all disciplinary backgrounds will
be considered.

Graduate research assistantships (GRA) for 2013-2014 may be available in
the areas of hydrology, forest ecology, environmental social sciences,
ecosystem services, climate change, ecological economics, limnogeology, or
a combination of those topics. Students receiving assistantships will
conduct field sampling, analytical, and/or theoretical work on projects
related to our mission. These GRAs provide an excellent opportunity to
work with a broader cohort of students and their mentors working at the
intersection of earth systems, plant ecology, biogeochemistry, hydrology,
and social sciences. A signature of the program is that graduate work must
involve a substantive outreach or public engagement project.

In addition to the application materials required by the College of
Graduate Studies (htpp:/www.plymouth/graduate/), please submit a statement
of interest and a current resume/CV to the program coordinator, June
Hammond Rowan([email protected])to be considered for GRA funding.
The priority deadline for funding consideration is January 15, 2013.
