Want to learn how human behavior can affect environmental change? Join the Duke Environmental Leadership program for the six-week, distance-learning course "Environmental Communication for Behavior Change". The rapidly expanding field of environmental communication brings together a set of behavior change tools that can help with environmental enforcement, compliance with regulations, and desired changes in behavior. Developed and led by Brian Day-a globally recognized leader in environmental education, the course will address practical tools and strategies that environmental professionals can use to communicate environmental concepts effectively and encourage behavior change. This course is the foundation of DEL's suite of Environmental Communication courses available for the first time in 2013. We also offer skills-based, distance learning courses in social media communication (March-May 2013), writing (Summer 2013), and a project-oriented communications planning course (Fall 2013). Successful completion of all four courses will lead to completion of our new Certificate in Environmental Communications. Environmental Communication for Behavior Change will be held from Feb. 4 - March 15, 2013. Environmental professionals from all over the world interact via weekly discussions led by our instructors. Assigned readings, papers, and discussion boards allow for customized instructor feedback and peer review. This course can be taken for graduate credit; register before January 14, 2013 for the reduced tuition rate.
