*Position*:  Chemist, USDA-Agricultural Research Service

*Location*: Parlier, CA

*Description of Duties*:

The individual provides technical support in agricultural research related
to crop water and pesticide management and soil and water quality research,
with duties including but not limited to:

·         Search literature for methods to meet assignment objectives.

·         Carry out sample preparation, measurements and analyses by
applying established chemical methods using computerized analytical
equipment.

·         Recognize unusual or erroneous analytical results.

·         Select the proper methods and procedures according to the
experimental design.

   - Taking analytical measurements and collecting straightforward
   scientific data
   - Performing routine calculations
   - Preparing graphs, charts, or simple summaries for reports
   - Assisting in setting up laboratory equipment for standard experiments

·         Write periodic laboratory reports discussing experimental
procedures and results.

·         Maintain chemical and gas inventories and expendable supplies.

·         Be responsible for safe operation of unit lab equipment and
assist unit safety officer on chemical safety and hygiene plan.

*Federal Series and Grade*: GS-7 ($38,790 per year and up) with promotion
potential to GS-9 (up to $61,679/yr)
