Dear Ecologgers, We would like to make you aware of the rOpenSci Open Science Challenge. Follow this link to find out more: http://ropensci.org/open-science-challenge/
rOpenSci (http://ropensci.org/) is a group of ecology postdocs passionate about developing software for open science. We write R software to connect ecologists/scientists to open source data on the web. We have many R packages that can connect you to ecological and environmental data on the web, including from GBIF, VertNet, eBird, and more. See a full list of our packages here: http://ropensci.org/packages/index.html. We want more people to make their research open and easy to reproduce. We hope this challenge will entice ecologists to think about how they can use our R packages to make their data collection efforts reproducible (and easier). We will provide timely support to help you use our packages to get data from the cloud, and to make your efforts reproducible. You will also get free promotion of your project through various social media platforms. The deadline for submission is Jan. 31, 2013. Please email us with questions or comments at [email protected]. We look forward to receiving your submissions! Sincerely, Scott Chamberlain (for rOpenSci) Simon Fraser University
