Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Microbiology. The Biology Program in the School of Science and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, to begin in August 2013. A Ph.D. in microbiology or a closely related area is required, with research emphasis in one or more of the following: environmental microbiology, microbial ecology and/or microbial genetics and/or medical microbiology. Preference will be given to individuals with post-doctoral and classroom teaching experience.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach courses in general microbiology, environmental and public health microbiology, and associated laboratories, as well as develop courses within his/her specialization area or to meet the needs of the program. This position has a teaching load of nine credit hours per semester, comprised of undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) courses. The selected candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain an independent and active research program, advise undergraduate and master's level graduate students, supervise master's theses and undergraduate research, and provide service to the profession, university and program.
