Assistant/Associate Professor of Human Ecology
Position summary: Unity College invites applications for an academic-year
(9-month) position, to be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Unity College is a four-year liberal arts College that emphasizes
sustainability and Sustainability Science throughout the curriculum.
Sustainability Science is an emerging framework focused on overcoming
sustainability challenges. The framework acknowledges the importance of
maintaining resilient ecological, economic, and social systems and strives to
improve modeling and conceptualization of these systems and their interactions.
We seek an individual who can support our sustainability science focus through
demonstrated transdisciplinary research studying the interrelationships among
people and their environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in
coupled human-natural systems, with a focus on environmental problem-solving
and quantitative social science methodologies.
The successful candidate will teach courses in our Sustainability Science
general education curriculum, a course in social science research methods, and
courses in his/her area of expertise as appropriate. They will also mentor
undergraduate research students and participate in student advising and campus
leadership.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Human Ecology or closely related
field; commitment to excellence in teaching, research and outreach pertaining
to sustainability science; demonstrated potential for scholarship/research and
securing external funding for research; effective communication skills; and
commitment to cultural diversity.
