Available Master’s student position: Research on Oplismenus hirtellus subsp. 
undulatifolius (wavyleaf basketgrass), a recent invader in mid-Atlantic 
forests. 

A position is available at Towson University for a Master’s student to work 
with Dr. Vanessa Beauchamp on the community ecology of a recently introduced 
invasive grass. Potential research topics include interactions with 
mycorrhizal fungi, competition with native plant species, pathways and rates 
of dispersal and spread, effects on forest food webs and impacts to forest 
regeneration. The successful applicant will be funded in the Department of 
Biological Sciences under a 9-month teaching assistantship, with good 
potential for additional summer funding. 

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in biology or related field. 
Research experience is a plus. The position will start in late August 2013.
