Hello everybody,
I am seeking two volunteers for this summer field season. The work will take place in El Yunque, tropical forest of Puerto Rico from June to July. I am colleting data in various part of the tropical forest in the aim of understanding tropical forest dynamics and the role played by natural enemies and fungi in maintaining high alpha tree diversity. The fieldwork consists in collecting aboveground data of the seedling enemies’ community, and belowground data to evaluate soil pathogens and mycorrhizal fungi communities. Due to limited funding, the position solely comes with free housing; the volunteers will have to cover other expenses (plane tickets, food, hobbies). It is a great opportunity for students to discover tropical forests and fieldwork while improving their CV. We will stay at the LTER station El Verde station and leave in a dorm. Most of the field work will take place in the plot adjacent to the station, but we will also drive to different sites. If you are interested please send me an email with your CV and 2 to 3 reference contacts. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions: Bene Bachelot: [email protected] http://benedictebachelot.weebly.com
