Dear All,

I am from Tribhuvan University (Nepal). Presently I am in search of PhD
opportunity abroad. Though I am flexible enough about the topic ( any
environmental issues relating to climate change) I am very eager to work on
forest fire.

Glacier melt in Himalaya is very significant. There is a debate about the
role of forest fire of Nepal and neighboring countries (South Asia) in
formation of brown clouds and Himalayan ice melting. Some people say
emission from forest fire is major contributor and others say regional
industrial emission is fundamental.

Government is in plan of quantifying forest carbon so that country can be
benefited under REDD. Community initiatives in forest conservation and
management is outstanding in Nepal. However increasing trend of fire
incidences in forests in pre-monsoon season is a great challenge. It has
been contributing carbon emission that have been sequestered.

In this circumference, I have strong interest to work on forest fire and
its impact on GHGs emission and/or livelihood/ biodiversity for my PhD so
that I can be able to work on this sector when I come back home.

This is very preliminary idea and I need to shape it properly. Could you
please help me to find proper professor?

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,
Susmita
