Hello, I am a relatively new graduate student studying evolutionary ecology, and have recently become very interested in ecological niche modeling, or species distribution modeling. I have no experience working with GIS or other modeling software, but would like to incorporate some of these methods into my research program. I am writing here to inquire if anybody knows of any short-courses on the subject, or any resources available to somebody with limited experience. Specifically, I would like to apply niche modeling methods to a local avian hybrid zone, and am just not quite sure where to start with learning the programs. I am located in Pennsylvania, and would be willing to travel to attend any helpful courses. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!
