Hi Ecolog,
I am sure this topic has been breached before, but I am hoping for some
insight. I graduated a year ago with my Bachelor's, and have since started
a family. The advice I have heard from others is mostly about choosing a
program with faculty that will be supportive of my family obligations, but
I really do wonder how women juggle the rigors of graduate work, time in
the field, and their role as a parent.

Should mothers wait till their children are older? If not, what does it
look like to women who have children (and a spouse that works)? Do
professionals in the field have any advice to offer? What are some common
challenges and have we made any progress to make pursuing higher education
and a professional career in science more available to women with children?

Thanks for any insight.
