I'm teaching Biostatistics for majors and am looking for new ideas for
student research projects that don’t need equipment. For these projects,
students use chi-squared goodness of fit test, test of independence, t-tests
(unpaired and paired), correlation, or regression. In the projects, small
groups of students collect data for 1-2 hrs per person. I’ve been using
questions on urban ecology, animal and human behavior, easily measured
physiology (such as heart rate), and climate data from airports, but I’m
open to other ideas. A pond, birdfeeders, a small area with native prairie
plants, a formal garden, and Lake Michigan are near the university.

Please reply directly to my email: [email protected]. I’ll share a list
of responses and questions that I already have used if you wish.

Thanks,
Sarah Richardson
