Hi Ecolog-ers I need to label tiny bugs (Geocoris pallens) with numbered tags that would allow individual identification. Each tag would be a piece of paper about 0.75 x 0.5 mm, with tiny digits printed on them. I can restrain the bugs under a mesh that would allow me to glue the tag carefully on the back of their thorax (we don't want to interfere with movement and flight). If anyone has experience with this, I need tips on how to actually glue the paper tag on the insect:
What glue should I use that would stick to the bug? How to applya very small amount of glue, in field conditions, without getting glue smeared on the head-thorax joint or on the bases of the wings? Responses onor off list would be most welcome. I'd be happy to share the suggestions I get with anyone interested. Thanks!
