Dear Colleagues,

(apologies for cross-postings)

We are organizing a workshop on "Data Infrastructures for Estuarine and Coastal
Ecological Syntheses" at the upcoming 2013 Coastal and Estuarine Research
Federation Conference in San Diego (November 3-7). The workshop will be held
Sunday November 3, at 1:30-3:00pm.

The goal of this workshop is to have 2-3 short talks inform workshop
participants about data tools they can use and potential solutions to data
issue. Secondly, we will facilitate discussions centered on "Big Data",
cyberinfrastructure, strategies, incentives and funding, as well as types of
syntheses, tools and methods, pitfalls to avoid, problem solving, and future
directions for ecological syntheses.

We aim to connect science and management through encouraging attendees from
academia, government, and industry who are focusing on best practices,
available resources, results from data-centric research/synthesis projects, and
related technologies.

We anticipate this will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the increasing
pace and collaborative nature of research in a beautiful setting, and so we
encourage you to join us in San Diego and attend the workshop.

Please pass this information to your colleagues. We hope to have representation
from scientists in all kinds of estuarine/coastal environments.

If you have questions regarding the workshop, please feel free to contact us.

Cheers and Best Regards,
