Dear Ecologgers,

My name is Magda Garbowski and I am beginning a MS project at Colorado State
University this fall
to study restored vegetation responses to various precipitation regimes.

I am hoping to investigate how soil amendment during restoration affects soil
moisture and
possibly soil nitrogen availability at different depths. Does anyone have
suggestions for how to test
either or both of these soil characteristics (soil moisture and soil nitrogen
availability)? From the bit
of reading I have done, I am leaning towards installing TDR probes horizontally
at different depths
to measure soil moisture. Does anyone have any recommendations for probes and
depths, or other
methods all together? Furthermore, can anyone provide advice regarding
equipment to log up to
300 probes?

I greatly appreciate any and all suggestions and advice!

Thank you!

Magda Garbowski
