Hello ECOLOG,

As the Chair of
the Education Committee of the Mid Atlantic Region Environmental Professionals
(MAREP - http://www.marepweb.org), it is my pleasure to inform you that we are
now accepting applications for our student scholarship.  The scholarship
consists of one (1) award of $2,500.00 for the academic year of
2013-2014.

This scholarship was established by MAREP
to promote and support the training of current or future Environmental
Professionals in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia.  MAREP was
established in 2009 by a group of Environmental Professionals
who sought to provide opportunities for professional development and awareness.

The scholarship is meant to support a student
who is pursuing a degree within an environmental field and who has demonstrated
a commitment to a career related to the environment. MAREP advocates the
pursuit of knowledge in an ever-expanding field and wishes to assist students
who are pursuing/advancing a career as an Environmental Professional.

The recipient of the scholarship
will be selected in the end of the summer of 2013, and the $2,500 award will be
available for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Qualifications:
        1. The recipient will be an undergraduate or graduate student
interested in a career within an environmental field.  Eligible students shall
submit an application, which includes an essay, transcript and two letters of
recommendation.  Through the application process, students should provide
evidence of sincere interest in attaining/advancing a career within the
environmental field.
        2. Undergraduate recipients must be at least a second year student as
defined by their respective institute of higher learning.  Students must attend
schools and/or be residents of Maryland, the District of Columbia, or Virginia.

        3. The recipient must attend one MAREP general meeting, special event,
or annual conference where they will be formally recognized for their
accomplishments.  Meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of most
months in Northern Virginia and Maryland, respectively.  A free meeting ticket,
which includes a meal, will be provided to the scholarship recipient.  Special
events are posted at MAREP's website.  The annual conference date varies, and
will be available at our website when the meeting is finalized.
