Position or Title:M.S. Assistantship in Fisheries Population
Dynamics and Conservation
*Agency/State: *Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Virginia
Tech, Blacksburg, VA**
*Responsibilities: *Conduct spatial population dynamics and stock
assessment modeling based on tag-recapture studies and fisheries
data.Duties will include conducting spatial dynamics modeling,
coordinating with other investigators, preparing reports and
presentations for scientific audiences, and submitting manuscripts based
on his/her work to peer-reviewed journals.
*Qualifications: *B.S. in fisheries, ecology, statistics, or related
field.The most qualified applicant will have a strong quantitative
background, and a strong interest in population dynamics. A proven
publication record, knowledge of R, MATLAB and/or other computing
languages will be assets for appropriate candidates. Position starts
immediately or Spring 2014 semester.**
*Salary: **S*tipend ($20,000-$23,000) plus tuition
