*Call for Synthesis Research Proposals: Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services*

** **

The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC)—a
nationally-recognized University of Maryland research center—is pleased to
announce available funding for research projects that bring together data,
ideas, theories, or models to address critical socio-environmental
questions at the interface of biodiversity and ecosystem services.****

This call for proposals is part of a collaborative, trans-Atlantic
partnership with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) and
the Synthesis Centre (sDiv) within the German Centre for Integrative
Biodiversity Research, both located in Leipzig, Germany. Proposals are
welcome from investigators whose home institutions are anywhere in the
world—i.e., this call is not limited to U.S. or German investigators.****

Participants are expected to spend time at each of the three centers
(SESYNC, UFZ, and sDiv) working with their synthesis team. Five workshops
will take place alternating between Annapolis, Maryland, USA and Leipzig,
Germany between February 2014 and December 2015.****
