Tenure Track Position in Biology at VMI

The Biology Department at the Virginia Military Institute, an undergraduate 
liberal arts college, seeks a broadly trained teacher/scientist at the 
Assistant Professor level (tenure track) to complement our growing department. 
The successful candidate will teach courses in the core curriculum general 
biology sequence and also in their area of expertise. The starting date for 
this position is August of 2014 but could be as early as January 2014.

The new faculty member should have a research program with components 
appropriate for bench investigation. A broad range of disciplines will be 
considered including physiology, developmental biology, microbiology, 
neuroscience or other domains appropriate for undergraduate-centered research 
in a small college setting. VMI has no animal facilities and thus applicants 
using invertebrate or other non-mammalian models will be most competitive.
Applicants should have experience teaching undergraduates. Post-doctoral 
training is desirable. Faculty members wear uniforms but military experience is 
not required.
