Colleagues,

Line Gordon of the Stockholm Resilience Center, and Bioversity International
(Fabrice DeClerck) are seeking to support a recent doctoral candidate in
applying for the Swedish Research Council Formus call for "Supporting
sustainable development in low income countries” (mobility grant for young
researchers).

The overall intention of the Grant is to contribute to development of new
knowledge that will support global sustainable development, and to promote
capacity building long-term cooperation between Swedish researchers and
researchers in low-income countries.

Formas promotes high-quality research in support of sustainable development
(ecological, economic, social and cultural). Such a development requires that
the health and welfare of man and animals together with biodiversity,
environment, nature’s production capacity, economy as well as ethical, social
and cultural aspects, should all be considered. A project can last for four
years and should aim to promote the mobility of young researchers (maximum
eight years since doctoral degree award) in Sweden. The programme will start
January 2014 and 8 million SEK/year will be available for four years, with
Formas and Sida contributing equal shares.

The Stockholm Resilience Center and Bioversity are particularly interested in
working with 1-2 candidates whose interests and approaches would contribute to
apply ecosystem service and resilience based approaches to addressing critical
landscape/basin scale development challenges in either the Volta, Nile, or
Mekong river basins. Work would also contribute to the CGIAR research program
on Water Land and Ecosystems with the engagement of other CGIAR centers:

If you are interested, please send a brief statement of interest and CV to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Do not that the individual
would be responsible for submitting an application directly to FORMAS.

Bioversity is committed to research highlighting the use and conservation of
biodiversity to improve the lives of rural farming families. The successful
candidate should anticipate splitting their time between the Stockholm
Resilience Center, Bioversity’s office in Montpellier, France, and the selected
field site.
