The new James H. Oliver Jr. Institute for Coastal Plain Science (ICPS) at
Georgia Southern University invites applications for a 1-year (with
potential for renewal for up to 1.5 additional years) visiting postdoctoral
position in Marine Ecology. The successful candidate will work closely with
Daniel Gleason, Director of the ICPS, on projects focused primarily on
recruitment processes of benthic marine invertebrates in both temperate and
tropical reef systems. The ideal candidate will have significant field
experience in marine systems. In addition, previous experience with
molecular genetic protocols involving DNA extraction and PCR amplification
and/or analytical methods such as HPLC is highly preferred. Scuba diving
experience with AAUS training (or equivalent) is required. The successful
candidate will participate in all aspects of project planning and logistics
and will work closely with graduate and undergraduate research students.
Demonstrated writing and statistical analysis skills, as evidenced through
peer-reviewed publications is highly preferred. For more background on the

The starting date for this position is 6 January 2014, with an annual
