*Canada Research Chair in Environmental Biology and Ecology (Tier 2)* The Department of Biology at York University is seeking applicants for a NSERC Tier 2 Canada
Research Chair (CRC) in Environmental Biology and Ecology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, to commence July 1, 2014. The successful Tier 2 CRC applicant should be an excellent and emerging world-class researcher who demonstrates the potential to play a leadership role and achieve international recognition in his/her field, and is expected to propose an original and innovative research program in environmental biology and have the potential to attract excellent trainees. The successful candidate must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Research interests in environmental biology and ecology at York University include the ecological effects of multiple stressors including invasive species, pollution, climate change, Arctic ecology, and pollinator biology. The incumbent is expected to contribute to and enhance the world-class research activities and institutional programs in the Ecology and Evolution group in the Department of Biology and the Faculty of Science, and to interact with colleagues in the Faculty of Environmental Studies, Institute for Research and Innovation in Sustainability, and the Department of Geography. We are interested in environmental biology and ecology research at scales ranging from genomes to ecosystems. We encourage applications from ecotoxicological researchers. The incumbent is expected to provide leadership at the departmental and institutional level, and take a collaborative approach to his/her research. The candidate will be required to work with the Department and the Office of the Vice-President Research and Innovation to prepare the formal CRC nomination.
