Salary Range: $4,214 - $5,535 per month plus comprehensive benefit package

This position serves as the senior planner responsible for managing the DNR 
Aquatic Reserves Program and reports directly to the Aquatics Program Planning 
Program Manager.  The Aquatic Reserves Program is based on authority provided 
in WAC 332-30-151 and the Aquatic Reserve Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) 
completed in 2002 that defines the method for identifying and designating 
aquatic reserves.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*            Serves as senior planner for the Aquatics Reserves Program.
*            Supervises 2 staff.
*            Oversees the implementation and development of the DNR Aquatic 
Reserves Program.
*            Providing policy recommendations to Management on aquatic habitat 
conservation and marine protected areas issues
*            Oversees the development of monitoring, research and restoration 
plans and the preparation and oversight of contracts to carry out this work
*            Representing the agency and the program on professional work 
groups, committees, and forums.


Required Education, Experience & Competencies:

*            Master's degree or above with major emphasis in environmental or 
natural resource planning.
*            Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying planning tools 
to environmental management such as geospatial data and regional conservation 
planning.
*            Demonstrated experience developing work plans and research design 
for natural resources management planning and implementation.
*            Demonstrated experience working with geographic information 
systems to  support planning and management efforts.
*            Demonstrated experience organizing and chairing committees or 
technical work groups.
*            Demonstrated ability to conduct public meetings and effectively 
convey both technical and programmatic information to the public.
*            Availability to travel throughout the state.
