FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
in Entomology and Nematology
University of California, Davis

Title: Assistant Professor in the Entomology and Nematology Department. This
is a nine-month academic year tenure-track appointment.

The Entomology and Nematology Department has a research, teaching and
outreach mission to develop and disseminate comprehensive basic and applied
knowledge regarding invertebrate pests and beneficial invertebrates that
affect crops, crop plants, and the environment.

Requirements: Assistant Professor of Entomology and Nematology. 
This is an academic year (9-month) tenure track position that includes the
expectation that the appointee will conduct mission-oriented research and
outreach of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station. The
successful candidate will be expected to develop innovative teaching and
research programs, and participate in outreach efforts that contribute to
the mission and goals of the University. Research should address integrated
pest management (IPM) of established and invasive pests in any of the more
than 350 crop systems in California. We especially encourage applications
from those who integrate emerging methods in the biological sciences with
pest management in the context of agricultural sustainability. Skills in
quantitative ecology are regarded as an asset. We seek an individual who
will collaborate broadly with stakeholders as well as with colleagues, such
as faculty in our department or related departments at U.C. Davis, and
Cooperative Extension academics. Teaching is assigned by the department
chair and will be in the area of expertise of the successful candidate
(e.g., IPM, Biological Control), at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels. Teaching will include participation in the department’s existing
curriculum, which emphasizes laboratory and field courses. Supervision of
graduate students, student advising, curricular development, and
participation in University service and outreach programs are expected. The
successful candidate will be an active member of the Entomology and
Nematology Graduate Program and other graduate groups as appropriate to the
individual’s interests and expertise. The research, teaching and outreach
efforts are expected to support the mission of the Department of Entomology
and Nematology in the Agricultural Experiment Station.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
