Greetings. I plan on doing some radio telemetry work with bats in Swaziland. In past wildlife work I've used standard radio transmitters but have become aware of coded transmitters. Much of the field season I will be working alone, thus I am concerned about tracking about 30 bats. Have any of you used coded transmitters? This is mostly a descriptive study where I will hope to assess habitat choice, find day/night/feeding roosts and the like. If you have used coded transmitters what was your experience like? What were the pitfalls?
