I've occasionally come across small-unit exercises being conducted in protected forests, and I'd like to know if this is commonplace on state and federal lands across the U.S. I don't mean military bases with extensive buffer zones of natural habitat, but rather armed military units training in state parks, national parks and other protected areas.
If anyone has any observations or personal experiences, especially regarding changes in recent years, please contact me off-list. I'd be very interested to hear about similar encounters others may have had. Thanks in advance, John A.
