Position Announcement: Rangeland Extension Specialist, Assistant Professor of Rangeland Management, Plant – Herbivore Interactions Ecologist Organization: The University of Wyoming Department of Ecosystem Science and Management
Location: Laramie, WY Description: The University of Wyoming is pleased to accept applications for a Rangeland Extension Specialist, 11 month tenure-track position with a 55% Extension (University of Wyoming Extension), 35% Research, 5% teaching and 5% service appointment, located in Laramie, Wyoming. The successful candidate will establish an extension and research program focusing on evaluating the interactions and impacts of herbivores on rangeland ecosystems with an emphasis on extensive rangeland management and production with linkages to grazing management. Responsibilities will also include working with private landowners and agency managers to implement programs related to herbivory on rangelands. Examples of focal areas include but are not limited to: evaluating the interactions and impacts of herbivores on rangeland ecosystem; public-lands grazing issues; rangeland production and management; and understanding how the ecological condition of rangeland plant communities influences forage production for domestic livestock, wildlife habitat attributes, insects and invasive plant species. They will also contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching and advising. Requires a Ph.D. or Ph.D. in place by date of hire in rangeland management, or closely related field.
