Hello all,

A friend of mine is working on an app designed to introduce children
to ecology, which I think is pretty cool. (The working title is 'the
plant app,' but in fact it includes a number of different ecological
interactions, including with animals.) I thought those interested in
K-12 education and/or outreach might be willing to help out. She
and her colleagues are committed to scientific accuracy and would like
to find reviewers for the drawings, interactions, and information
associated with the project. It might make an nice 'synergistic
activity.' If you are interested, there are more details below. You
can contact [email protected] if you'd like to contribute.

*Scientific reviewers needed for educational app*

*Introducing kids to terrestrial biomes through discovery play*A new app is
encouraging children to explore eight different
terrestrial biomes and investigate the environmental conditions and
species diversity within these systems. Rather than explicitly
teaching kids about how ecosystems function, the app invites kids to
discover how parts and processes are related through embedded
interactions.

*Not just fun but accurate: scientific reviewers sought*
Tinybop, the creators of the app, are looking for botanists,
ecologists, and zoologists who would be willing to help review
illustrations and content. The app features a strong commitment to
accurately representing the plants, animals and ecosystems involved.
Reviewers will provide comments on illustrations and explanatory text
regarding the accuracy of biome conditions and species depicted.
Additionally, reviewers will provide suggestions regarding
environmental interactions and plant-animal interactions.

*Past work from this developer*Tinybop is a Brooklyn-based studio of
designers, developers,
educators, and illustrators building a suite of educational apps for
kids. The Human Body, the first app in the Explorer’s Library series,
was reviewed in Wired and Fast Company, and highlighted as an iTunes
‘App of the Week.’ Tinybop is committed to creating apps with
beautiful artwork and outstanding design that encourage curiosity and
spark conversation.
