POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN ECOSYSTEM ECOLOGY
Faculty of Forest Sciences, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences
(SLU), Umeå, Sweden

SLU invites applications for the following 18 month post-doctoral position
in Ecosystem Ecology, on the topic of Responses of Ecosystem Properties to
Long Term Fire History in Boreal Forest (Ref. Nr. 5566/2013) at the
Department of Forest Ecology and Management at the Swedish University of
Agricultural Sciences, at Umeå, Sweden. The position is fully financed,
including salary and benefits. The postdoctoral researcher will be
expected to start on May 1 2004.

The position involves collaboration with researchers based in both Sweden
and Quebec, Canada; as such while the position will be based in Umeå, the
field work will be based out of northern Quebec. The study system involves
islands in northern Quebec that differ in historical fire regime, and the
postdoctoral researcher will explore how ecosystem properties in this
system both aboveground and belowground respond to fire history in this
system. There is the expectation that the researcher will be actively
involved in the design, fieldwork, data analysis, and write-up of this
work. This position would be particularly ideal for researchers that have
an interest in the community and ecosystem ecology of northern ecosystems.

The required qualification for this position is a PhD in Ecology or a
related subject, preferably with experience in field-based ecology, and
preferably completed in the previous three years. We would also expect the
researcher to have a reasonable level of physical fitness, and to have the
capacity to travel to Quebec for fieldwork during the 2014 field season.

Applications for this position should include a curriculum vitae including
a full list of publications, a brief description of research interests,
and a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's
qualifications and experience.
