I am seeking applicants for the Killam postdoctoral fellowship. This is a
competitive two-year award, funded by the Killam Foundation and awarded by
the University of Calgary. The purpose is to allow the Fellow (who can come
from any academic field) to develop his or her own research program, under
the guidance of a faculty sponsor.

An ideal applicant for my lab would be someone with mathematical and/or
programming skills, whose interests overlap with mine: question-driven work
in population, community, and eco-evolutionary dynamics. Current research in
my lab concerns spatial synchrony of predator-prey cycles, stochastic
population dynamics, and coevolution of competing species. My lab also would
be a good fit for someone looking to learn, or continue with, lab-based
model systems like protist microcosms or bean beetles. But I’m open to
applications from anyone whose interests overlap my own. My hope would be
for you to pursue your own work, and also to collaborate with me on some
project of mutual interest. For more on my lab, see my homepage:

More broadly, my department has strength in depth in evolutionary ecology,
plant-pollinator interactions, and population ecology. The University of
Calgary is one of Canada's top research universities. Calgary is a city of
over 1 million people, close to the Canadian Rockies with all the
opportunities for research and recreation that implies.

Details are as follows:

Salary and benefits: $45,000/year plus $6000 research/moving allowance, and
excellent health benefits

Eligibility: Received or expect Ph.D. between Sept. 1, 2011 and Sept. 1,
2014. You do NOT need to be Canadian to apply, and there is no preference
