Position description:
The Department of Organismic and Evolutionary
Biology (OEB) and the Harvard University Herbaria
(HUH) seek to appoint a tenured-track faculty
member in the Department of OEB

in the field of plant diversity and evolution. We
seek an outstanding scientist who will teach both
undergraduate and graduate students, and who is
engaged in an innovative research program. The
successful candidate will also be appointed as
curator in the HUH and share responsibilities for
the HUHs physical and digital collections. We
are especially interested in individuals who
undertake field and laboratory research in plant
phylogenomics, genetics, development, speciation, and/or biogeography.
The Harvard University Herbaria (HUH;
<http://www.huh.harvard.edu>http://www.huh.harvard.edu)
house one of the largest and most comprehensive
collections of dried plant and fungal specimens
in the world. These specimens are the key to our
knowledge of plants and serve as a permanent
reference to the diversity of life on earth.
During the last five years, the HUH has embarked
on an ambitious plan to enhance its scientific
mission through a series of key improvements in
its laboratories, bioinformatics and collections
infrastructure, and environmental controls. This
tenure-track position is part of this broader initiative.
Basic qualifications: Doctorate required by expected start date.
Additional qualifications: Demonstrated
excellence in teaching and research is desired, as is postdoctoral experience.
