Hello! I wanted to bring to everyone's attention a new ecology/sustainability institute that is trying to start up in southeast Alaska. The project is led by a good friend of mine, who is hoping to purchase the Hobbit Hole, a piece of property outside Glacier Bay in southeast Alaska. The goal is protect this small private inholding (surrounded by wilderness) in perpetuity while also establishing a small research base to encourage field research in southeast Alaska and also hosting a variety of sustainability and ecological field schools.
They've finally officially launched and are currently raising funds to appraise the property and connect potential donors with the property. I highly encourage all of you to check out the website for the Inian Islands Institute (http://inianislandsinstitute.org/). Also, here's a link to their IndieGoGo fundraising page: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/inian- islands-institute-education-and-research-in-wild-alaska Finally, if you want to connect with Zach (the leader of the project) directly, his email is [email protected]. Thanks! Jeremy
