I have an opening for a NERC-funded UK/EU PhD student to combine field-based data collected by University of Leeds RAINFOR project, with modelling and mathematical analysis methods developed in the group of Prof. Bill Kunin (Biology, U. Leeds). Research will focus on impact of past and future deforestation on tree species biodiversity. In particular, understanding economic, social and environmental return on investment from a decade of Brazilian government policy interventions which successfully reduced deforestation within Brazil, but perhaps increased it in neighbouring countries.
