University Title: Senior Research Associate Working Title: Extension Specialist in Sustainable and Healthy Coastal Ecosystems and Assistant Research Professor
Location: Texas A&M University at Galveston General Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities involve statewide leadership and coordination for applied research and outreach, engagement and education programs in sustainable and healthy coastal ecosystems. Responsibilities include: conduct applied research in sustainable and healthy coastal ecosystems; plan, develop, implement outreach, engagement and education programs for the public, and develop grant & contract proposals to support applied research and extension programs. Extension program delivery will include peer reviewed and extension publications, workshops, conferences, computer and web based software, electronic and mass media releases. Administrative Relationships: The individual will be an employee of Texas Sea Grant and Texas A&M University. He/she will report to the Head of the Department of Marine Sciences at Texas A&M University at Galveston and to the Texas Sea Grant Extension Program Leader. Required Education and Experience: Master's degree in social science or closely aligned field or a Bachelor's degree in social science or closely aligned field with five years of relevant experience. Strong quantitative skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Research experience in sustainable and healthy coastal ecosystems. Preferred Education and Experience: Doctoral degree in social science or closely aligned field preferred. Interdisciplinary thinking and successful track record working in areas that complement the research interests of existing faculty members at Texas A&M University at Galveston, including initiatives developed through the Institute for Sustainable Coastal Communities and the Center for Texas Beaches and Shores. Ability to leverage resources of TAMUG and neighboring institutions. Able to interact with coastal communities, resource managers, policy and decision-makers and other stakeholders.
