Program Assistant in Education – Urban Ecosystem Education LOCATION: Baltimore, MD DURATION: 15 hours per week. Start date immediately. End date one year from start. Must be available during school day hours (8am-4pm, M-F). Continuation beyond one year contingent on availability of grant funds and performance. SALARY: Commensurate with experience DUTIES: 1) Assist in providing classroom support for teachers participating in the Baltimore Partnership for Environmental Science Literacy Teachers’ Institute and the Students Restoring Urban Streams program (50%). Access to personal transportation required. 2) Assemble and format data sets, lessons and other resources for posting on-line for teacher and student use (25%). 3) Assist in developing and delivering professional development programs to middle and high school teachers (15%). 4) Additional administrative duties as needed such as completing inventory of supplies, database updates, meeting attendance, etc. (10%) Duties may change depending on the needs of the ecology education program. BACKGROUND: Bachelor’s degree in ecology, science education or related field required, Master’s degree preferred. At least two years experience in science education. Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with Maryland State Education standards. CLOSING DATE: February 21, 2014 or when position is filled.
