Dear Ecolog,
Registration for the upcoming LANDIS-II training at Harvard Forest (April 8th -10th, 2014) is available at the following link ( http://www.cvent.com/d/34qqrf/4W). Basic training $325 as well as more advanced training for the Century Extension $75 will be covered. Instructors: Melissa Lucash, Matthew Duveneck, and Jonathan Thompson. Housing is available at the Harvard Forest. Training comes with a complimentary copy of the new LANDIS-II training manual. Register early as training is limited to 15 participants. LANDIS-II training is for those interested in learning to use the LANDIS-II forest simulation model (http://www.landis-ii.org/). Topics include parameterization, simulating landscapes, and analyzing outputs. LANDIS-II simulates forest succession, disturbance (including fire, wind, harvesting, insects), climate change, and seed dispersal across large (typically 10,000 - 20,000,000 ha) landscapes. LANDIS-II tracks the spatial distribution of discrete tree and shrub species and has flexible spatial and temporal resolutions.
