Steven Railsback and Volker Grimm will for the 4th year offer a one-week
short course on individual-based modeling. The primary targets of the course
are professors and instructors interested in teaching their own modeling
courses, but we may also be able to accommodate scientists and graduate
students interested in modeling for their research.

The course will be based on Railsback & Grimm's 2012 text "Agent-Based and
Individual-Based Modeling, A Practical Introduction" (Princeton). Humboldt
State University's Office of Extended Education organizes the course. The
class will be limited to about 25 participants to ensure ample personal
attention and a productive experience.

This year the course is scheduled especially (but certainly not exclusively)
to accommodate Europeans: it will be held September 15-19, 2014, at the
Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, Leipzig, Germany (Volker
Grimm's home institution).
