Hello Ecolog-ers!

I'm a PhD student at the University of Missouri in need of volunteers for
urban ecology work in Baltimore, Maryland (Baltimore Ecosystem Study). I
am looking for 2-3 people willing to volunteer with a bird monitoring
project this summer (May 14 - July 25). The goal of this project is to
evaluate how urban vacant lots provide resources to sustain healthy bird
communities. We will visit 50 vacant lots multiple times throughout the
summer to monitor bird communities and evaluate the lot's vegetation
structure. Methods include point count surveys, nest searching and
monitoring, vegetation sampling, and mist netting/banding songbirds.
Previous knowledge of these methods is not necessary, but welcomed.
Volunteers need to be willing to meet early in the morning (~6AM) in
Baltimore and preferably willing to commit to at least two mornings a week.
Participants of local bird clubs and undergraduate students are welcome!

If you are interested, or would like to learn more about the project,
please contact Christine Rega ([email protected]). Please
include a brief CV/resume and letter of interest.

Thank you,

Christine Rega
