Dear Ecolog, The students in my lab and I have developed a fun and interesting program in two Californian Deserts. We are exploring shrub-annual plant-animal dynamics with the goal of building interaction networks. More proximately, we are testing the importance of shrubs as restoration agents in these systems.
Both MSc and PhD positions are available. However, the deadline is May 4th, 2014 (but all materials must be submitted within the next 2 weeks). If you are interested, please apply here: http://biology.gradstudies.yorku.ca/applying/ Here is the lab notebook online to get an idea of what we are up to: http://www.ecoblender.org York University has an excellent funding package ($21,000-28,000), access to research funds twice a year from graduate studies, and it is currently very supportive of field ecology. The students in my lab do all teaching and coursework from September to December then spend January to May in the deserts. Please pop me an email if you would like additional information. cheers, chris lortie www.christopherlortie.info
