Occupational Summary: 

The position is responsible for supporting the management and operation of
the Duke Forest as a teaching and research facility, a responsibly managed
working forest, an environmental education resource, and a recreational
amenity. It includes oversight of both its natural and built infrastructure
and requires a dynamic approach to accomplish on-the-ground, administrative,
and technical activities that support the Forest as a vital and value-added
resource for Duke University. 

About the Duke Forest: 

The Duke Forest comprises over 7,000 acres of land in Durham, Orange, and
Alamance counties and has been managed for teaching and research purposes
since 1931. The mission of the Forest is to facilitate research that
addresses fundamental and applied questions about forested and aquatic
ecosystems and to aid in the instruction of students so they will become
informed citizens and effective stewards of our natural resources.
The Forest also participates in environmental education and outreach through
tours and other events and provides a recreational resource to Duke and the
